This Friday forenoon in Germany we hat a partial solar eclipse. Even a partial one is an impressive event and I took some photos.
I used a self-made filter cap for my 500mm telephoto lens made from special ND5 filter foil (100.000-times damping). I discovered this event just a week before and the filter foil has arrived just 2 days before. In the week after the job the sunset is over. So I was not able to test the equipment before Friday morning.
Fortunately one of my two filters has worked perfectly.
The quality of the pics is good enough to see a sun spot. The only one who was present had the number 2297, following the last space weather forecast for the ham radio enthusiasts in Germany.
The eclipse has started. The hackly border of the sickle is caused by the uneven surface of the moon
The images were a little bit reworked to make the white balance more warm. In original the sun is white and grey.
The birds were very silent through the eclipse and there happiness was very great and impressive when the sun becomes brighter again.
